Before arriving in China

 

If you will be studying at CUHK Shenzhen for more than 6 months, you must get an ‘X1’ visa (X1 visa: Issued to those who intend to study in China for an extended period) to enter China. It is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. You can apply for ‘X’ visa at the Chinese Embassy / Consulate in your home country. The following documents will most likely be required:

•  Valid Passport

•  Admission Notification

•  Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China (download from your local Chinese Embassy website)

•  JW202 Form

•  2 recent passport photographs (color photo with white background, size: 2.5cm x 3.5cm)

•  Evidence of funds to cover tuition fees and living costs

•  Academic certificates or transcripts

•  Fee payment (check your Chinese Embassy website for the cost)

•  Any other relevant supporting documents required in your country (e.g. previous passports, proof of legal status)

Reminder: When you receive your visa, please ensure that your Admission Notification is returned together with your passport. You will need to bring these documents to China.


 

After arriving in China

 

After you arrive at CUHK Shenzhen, we will help you to apply for a Residence Permit. This document is essential to legally stay in China and must be completed within 30 days of entering China. Therefore, you are advised to arrive between 29 - 30 August to ensure you can join all the orientation courses without missing this deadline.

For your Residence Permit after arrival, you MUST bring the documents below:

•  Valid Passport

•  Admission Notification

•  JW202 Form (visa application for study in China)
